We get everything from William Hartnell to Sylvester McCoy, we just don't get the new-new ones.

Kudos to BBC for bringing it back, but what kind of crap excuse did they have for taking it OFF the air after 25+ years in the first place?

Agree in part with Gordy. The show had become stale and there seemed to be no point in continuing at the time. Now though, it's very fresh again ( especially in comparison to most of the crud on nowadays.)

Viewing figures aren't really a viable argument for the following reason.

The TV Licence was introduced so that the BBC could make the kind of programmes they are renowned for without worrying about ratings. As soon as the bbc started chasing ratings the fee should have been scrapped..

As far as ratings for the new Dr Who go, I don't think it's that important. It's only the people with no taste that watch something else :P
