Hi All

What sort of polish does everyone use on their cars i have a red 2001 celica, I use t cut once a month.

I was thinking about that new "flash" stuff anyone tried it?

Any other suggestions welcome.

Cheers

WELCOME TO TOC

I wouldn't use T CUT that often it is not needed. It is abrasive and would probably do more harm than not in the long term. It is better for older paintwork that needs deep restoration but as yours is fairly new it wont need that much work.

We have people who swear by different Polishs on TOC and one of the best seems to be the MEGUIERES range.

We have a resident POILISH GOD by the name of MATT McNALLY who will offer loadsa advice on cleaning your Celica.

Check out the new "Car Care Centre" link on the TOC title bar at the top of the page. Or for those who are exceptionally lazy... clicky

As for the 'Flash' stuff, if you mean that car wash monstrosity that you attach to your hose, don't bother.... it's useless.

My mum tried it for her Jag, and then washed it by bucket and sponge a few hours later.

Please stop using the Tcut, and dont consider the flash stuff.

errrm - wouldn't go that far - but thanks anyway Gordy :D

itsared1 - others have already made some good suggestions, both Autoglym and Meguiars are good products.

I would use the Meguiars 3 stage products, rather than the NXT stuff, as the 3 stage are specific to a purpose - there is a specific paint cleaner, polish and wax.

The NXT stuff is a wax with abrasives that can effect some minor swirl removal - it tries to be both a polish and wax, and as such, is not quite as good as specific polish and wax.

as you have a red car - I would strongly suggest a UV resistant polish and glaze, to try and prevent any fading, which one of my favourite products does provide.

Klasse All In One is the best polish I have used. its really easy to apply, and leaves a very glossy finish.

Klasse Sealant Glaze is simply superb. Its a glaze, which you apply very thinly, and build up several layers. It gives an incredible depth of shine - and very importanly - is UV resistant.

I am a huge fan of these two products - used them on my old car and existing one, and both times I loved the results - I would recommend them to anyone.

hey, thats just what i said.

the 3 step range is available from Halfords, but look on the web site as they have other more specialised products, for relatively the same cost.

I used tested Meg's on the bonnet of my 18 year old red celica convertible whilst its in storage.

I used the clay bar, Show car glaze - 3 applications and finished with gold class paste wax and it looks excellent - the glazes are excellent.

mind you, you paint is newer.

Whatever you choose you'll find the right products for you.

personally i use victoria wax products (www.victoriawax.com) it left my car looking that good i was asked by everyone i met after using it if it'd been re-sprayed, another thing i didn't expect was when i was at a show on sunday i thought i'd give it a quick once over with a thin layer of autoglym red and it only just stuck to the paint

unfortunately the victoria wax was imported by a friend from canada so i'll need to look into that or start using klasse/poorboys products

wow, thanks for all the suggestions guys, i will bin the t-cut stuff when i get home and try a bit of the Meguiars magic and see how i get on with that.

I have used T-cut once a month of the last 3/4 months or so, hope this hasn't damaged my paint too much, it looks ok to me!

I will let you know how i get on.

Cheers Folks

Well it has to be Zymol for me, very good wax and i'v tryed alot of them! lasts

along time too.

As from previous posts I used to swear by Zymol as it is a good wax.... Three weeks ago I got hold of some Megiuars and gave it a go, I'm never looking back the finish is so much better than the Zymol range I used to use and the application is so much easier. With Zymol I got the occasional swirl and had to use a lot more elbow grease to make sure of a good finish, with the Meguiars 3 stage it's straight on and straight off to a perfect finish.

i swear by the Meguiars range... i don't think there is anything better on the market, regardless of your budget.

i use megiuars in the following stages:

> Gold Class wash.

> Deep Crystal System Step One (Paint Cleaner)

> Deep Crystal System Step Two (Polish)

> Deep Crystal System Step Three (Carnauba Wax)

> i use Meguiars applicator pads and terry cotton cloths for removal.

i use Meguiars Quick Detailer between waxing to restore that just waxed shine.

you can't beat meguiars.... it's well worth the $250NZ i spend everytime i have to restock everything.

buy the way, i own a modified ST205 GT-Four Celica incase anyone is wondering.
