Back From Holiday

Rachel and me went on a well earned holiday last week to Devon and had a great time weather was fantastic and i even decided to by a speed boat whilst we was done there which is delivered next week and was one of the best holidays ive we had we liked that much we rebooked for next year.

This is where it all goes south

On the way home my dash board lights up like the Blackpool lights with warning bells screaming everywhere (not good)

So i call the breakdown company and some so called mechanic comes out after 2 hours and says my chargeing boost relay has gone, but the thing is he dont know where on the car it is or even if it has one but its gone anyway but if the pulls a fuse in the charging curcuit the dash lights and bells stop which they do and tells me i can drive the car and can get me the 300 miles home.

So were on our merry way again we pull into a services 100 miles down the road for a toilet stop get back in the car turn the key and nothing so call the breakdown company again who are very reluctant to come out as they were only out 2 hours ago and after much pleading they sent another mechanic out to me and thank god this bloke knows what hes doing and gets us a transporter all the way home and tells me that the other mecahnic should have done the same and the as if i had needed to use my wipers or lights i would have cut out on me on a motorway it could put us in a dangerous position and said he will me having stong words with the other garage who told me to carry on.

But were home now and i'll be working on the car tomorrow to get the alternator out.

Sounds like a bit of a mare you have mate. Oh well at least you at back at home now and you can have a look yourself mate instead of letting a fool mess around with it. Glad that you have a good holiday anyway.

Once you get your boat mate you have to get some pictures up on the site of it mate

Glad to hear you were alrite bud.

Can't believe the first guy just pulled a fuse and let you go on!

Had the same thing with an earthing problem on my bike last month. Live wire earthing on my Battery box! Everything died at about 80mph goin down local dual carriageway, and engine lost power....

Luckily at this point, I was in the left-hand lane, and next to the hard shoulder!

Was this the AA/RAC Steve? You'd think they'd actually know what they were doing considering we pay them so much for the service! :o

Glad you and Rach are back home safe and sound though!

Speed boat eh..... me thinks a TOC speed boating trip is in order!:lol::thumbsup:

Just took my alternator to a auto electrical specialist and its totally shot the stator is got hot and started arcing and blown the rectifier and cant be overhalled.

So i called a few places and they all want £170+ vat and delivery and have to wait week for one so i rang a breakers and they want £110+ vat and delivery and wait until the weekend.

So i called this tiny little place in Peterborough (considering this place is no bigger then a big shed im holding out much hope) so i left him my details and he said he would call me back (me thinking yeah right of course you will) 25 mins later get a call and he tells me he can get one tomorrow, so i asking how much (getting ready to fall over laughing) £94 inc vat :) chuffed to bits should have car back on road wenesday

Well done Grimwoods auto electrical

Well the Hilux is back on the road :hokus-pokus:

What a sod to fit an alternator almost had to remove half the stuff in the engine bay and take off most of the stuff bolted to the engine.

But its done now and im back on the road just waiting for something else to go wrong now  fingers crossed it wont.
