Corolla Verso Whining Sound

Hi There -

I own a Verso 1.6 SX and between 60 - 80km/h(40 - 50mph) when coasting, there is a slight whining sound. This however does not happen when acellerating or decellerating. This happens in 4th gear and in fifth gear at about 80km/h.

I mentioned this to the Toyota workshop Manager, who said that toyotas tend to do this, but if it gets worse, I must bring the car in.

Has anyone noticed a similar noise?

I scrutinize everything, and have an ear for unwanted noises in cars.

Sounds like a noisy gearbox to me!!!!!!

Not what I'd expect on such a new car though!!! Any leaks??

I think you got them the wrong way round 60-80mph = 90-120kph
