Back End Sliding?

Right, I was driving round a large, mini roundabout (a mini-ish roundabout with bricks around to provide better conering for lorries/buses) and, although it was wet, I was doin about 40mph around this roundabout and I had the back end sliding out from under me, my tires are in good condition, is this something to expect from the Seo?

As this is my first car, is this something that will happen with most cars? Luckily I was the only car on that part of the road and I was able to recover it but if I was going much faster it could of been a really dangerous situation

All cars if pushed hard enough will have the back end sliding about.

as Riko said - bricks when when are !Removed! dangerous.

did you let off the gas as you were turning?, if your turning in a front wheel drive car and you left off the gas you will slide.

Also maybe worth replacing your rear shocks if they are the original oil ones? as they are notorious for leaking.

don't always get lift-off oversteer in a fwd car, all depends on the suspension setup and geometry, and the paseo unfortunately is not sharp enough to offer lift off oversteer...im thinking worn shocks + slippery bricks = exaggerated rebound + little grip at tires = slip

My bog standard paseo tends to oversteer if I lift off or brake while the weights over when cornering, but this is common with most fwd shopping trolleys, i find it quite entertaining :) , though predictable and controllable.

I have to get some lowering springs and some KYB gas shocks asap, Im not to keen on this boat like floaty feeling, it takes away my confidence in the car as it understeers too easily.
