Removing A Lsd Unit From A Gearbox...

Ok...

I've sold my Kaaz LSD unit which is currently in my old gearbox (as mr2 is sold now). Just curious as to how to go about removing the LSD unit from the gearbox?

I think I know where the LSD unit is in the gearbox as there is some sealant stuff around a part of the gearbox... so this looks like that part has been off recently (to fit the LSD).

If anyone understood the above and you can help.... please let me know asap.

Failing that I'll just start unbolting bits and bobs until I find it... lol.

thanks

you will need special gear pullers and sockets to strip the box down.

you need to start by removing the cover at the end of the box (furthest away from flywheel) then the fifth gear and syncro (special gearpuller) then the torx bolts underneath (very tough torx socket as they are tight) then you can undo the blts holding the box together and remove the diff

is there anyway I can do it without a special gear pulley????

Ie... just yank the bugger?? lol

The box is gonna get scrapped anyway... so not too fussed if I damage it in anyway.

lmao.... didn't need that tool... had another.

Well tbh as long as the LSD doesn't get damaged it's all good. Just need the LSD out.

you need one of these contraptions to get the gears off, the claws hook onto the cg and the bolt centers on the shaft, you then give it a tweak and it pulls it off in a linear fasion, youll never shift it by hand

I have been working on cars for years in my garage,

smashing my knuckles, ripping my skin, bendinf fingernails back !!

If there is one thing I know, USE THE CORRECT TOOL.

If you dont have it...BUY IT !

I spent about 2 hours trying to do my rear break pads, f#*king calipers, smash, bang, bleed.

In the end went a got a caliper re-wind tool....job done all back together and out on the raod 15 mins latter.

and thats just one ocasion....valve removers, piston ring compressor, tried to do joibs without these....impossible

It will be worth it...BUY IT !
