Southern Ring Trip Posse

Thought it might be a good idea if we posted up the plans for us southern lot :)

if i remember rightly the ferry is for 7:55am. Need to be there an hour early and takes approx 2hrs to get there from Reading for us.

Add on an extra 30mins for delays etc which makes 3 and a half hours.

So im thinking we need to leave Reading at about 4-4:30

Ken - Whats the deal with you and Tim? you going to meet us down there or on route?

As with the Northern convoy it will be good to make sure everyone had everyones mobile number.

If you want to PM me yours and i'll PM mine back to you

Jon - PM me your number mate so we can arrange where you meet you in Reading

Walkie Talkies proved to be very handy last year so im going to be bringing a load again this year, but if you have your own then please bring it as i only have a few and once they are gone they are gone.

We are meeting Ken at the first Services down the M20 from the M25 ..

I am speaking to him next week about the time we are there.

The M25/M4 junction is still pony with regards to roadworks/delays/cameras.

Multimap Linky.

I don't think we need a 4am start. Just make sure you fill up the night before, and no stops this time. Just get to the services and head straight off. If you can't hold your bladder for an hour - tough :D

Looks it ..

According to MMap .. a 5am start would get us to M20 at 6:15 .. so 30 mins earlier, means we should be good to go. I assume there will be no hanging about. It'll be meet you and set off (wee break on the Ferry people!).

Ken, I may just call you when we hit the M20 and you can pull out the services and go slow, we'll catch you en route.

As long as Tim has arrived by then we could do that, are we filling up in Dover then?

Just a thought who's going to need to stop the most, i'm 180miles before i'm empty on normal motorway driving.

was thinking that France (even the most expensive) petrol is cheaper than UK, and proper 100ron ..

I'll be about 300miles a tank ..

180 miles? Geez, that's like 3 stops to get there ..

Im good to 400miles at a constant 80ish no problem. But i'll top up each time you guys need to stop, i think probably Ed will have to stop for fuel the most....seeing as he is running rich and his tank isnt the biggest..

Yep, RG+2

Shouldn't be to bad if we are filling up near Calais as i'll make it to the Shell top up near the German border and that will last me to Koblenz

Good stuff, makes sense .. the fewer stops the better as with a dozen cars it'll take a good 30 mins to fill us all.

Hopefully no overheating MR2's this year either.

Who has SatNav, and who had walkie-talkies?

I'm thinking a constant 80/90mph and we should be there in no time ..

3 walkie-talkies and the satnav already has the hotel plumbed in ;)

120kph to 130kph speedlimit all the way and 130 is about 83mph so about right really as above that i'll be going for a 100 mile tank refill

Wee bottle time in your's then :lol2:

Remember pit stops are decided by the biggest bladder, not the smallest.

I'm happy at 85 .. anything over and I'll need ear defenders ..
