A bit more info would be good, like when does it do it and what have you done so far to stop it, also how old are the tyres what make and are they worn on one side.

  • 2 weeks later...

Its 6 months old, 5000 miles, it pulls all of the time, dual carrieageways etc, even on the outside lane of the motorways, difficult to tell re wear, as they are still very new, although I do think they have started to feather on the near sides. Tyres fitted are Dunlops AT23. Dealer cannot help.

Ok ,maybe swap the tyres around .If still no luck there is definately a problem with the car.

At 6 months you should not have such a problem.Mine is 8 years old now and I can let go of the wheel

and the stearing stays true.

has anyone else had a problem with their amazon or other 4 x 4 pulling to the left, and have you found a way to rectify it?

Yup, bought a Hilux recently that did the same thing.

Took it back to the dealer several times to have the wheels rotated, tracking done, 4 wheel alignment doing etc etc. Everytime it came back as bad as before. The dealer told me in the end that "they all pull to the left" and that was the best i could expect. I think think they are more susceptible to cambers - pulling left on left and right on rights but the hilux even would climb up an opposite camber.

I complained to Toyota Customer Care who looked into it and advised me to take it elsewhere for a second opinion. Tried that at another dealer who agreed immediately it wasnt right and offered to sort it out for me. I gave the original dealer one last try though and i think after persuasion from the customer care team and the fact that another dealer confirmed it was wrong they looked at it and sorted it.

Unfortuantely i dont know what they did - all they said was "steering adjustment" so i cant help you pinpoint the cause. I can say that it aint right tho so keep moaning and mebbe take it for a second opinion.

Thanks for your help everyone, I couldn't take it to another toyota dealer, as the next nearest one is so far away, but I took it to a local specialist coachworks, and he said they get it quite often, so he was able to fix the problem. Unfortunately, Customer services will not reimburse the costs, as it was not done in a Toyota garage. But at least I have a perfect drive again.

Hi,Did they say what was wrong,It will be good if you can mention it here as it may help someone in the future.

It is such a shame as the LC is such a great vehicle. It is some of the dealers and their customer service that lets the car down.Beware of poor serviceing from main dealers as well.

Not absolutely sure, bit I believe it was laser aligned.

I bet Toyota did not have alignment equipment to suit a large 4WD. The larger wheels need larger equipment to get a thoroughly accurate reading.

Ive been to shops that were honest enough to explain this to me when purchasing 33 inch tyres from them.

I have suffered from this on my 53 plate Amazon V8. Finally got it fixed today by taking it to the only tyre dealer in my town (9 of them) who had the kit to do laser alignment on 18" 4x4 wheels !! It cost me £50 + VAT but it was the best £50 I have ever spent as at last it steers in a straight line !!!
