Fuel Efficiency?

Hi,

New member to the club ... I bought my Hilux Surf at the back end of last year to fulfill a boyhood dream (easily pleased, I know).

However, I did not give any thought to the fuel efficiency, or lack there of.

It's a 3ltr turbo SSR-G (jap import), and does around 17 miles to the gallon (driving reasonably). I can't believe this is the best it can do .. does anyone have any ideas, as the few garages I have spoken to re tuning, have told me they don't touch Toyotas as the are a mare to deal with.

It's not going to effect my enjoyment, but if I can save a few quid and keep the local diesel reserves that much higher, I am open to your thoughts and ideas.
