How Do You Remove The Radio Aerial

My car (2002 Avensis D4D 2.0) has the radio aerial mounted on the roof in the centre just above the windscreen. Are these aerials supposed to be easily removed (for example if you want to use an automatic car wash)? I'd assumed it would just screw off but I can only get it to turn about a quarter of a turn. The only other thing I can do is alter the angle. Should it completely unscrew? Have tried WD40 but no luck and I don't want to force it anymore in case it is not supposed to come off and I damage it.

Thanks. Have now managed to remove it (with the help of pliers and WD40). Seems like it had never been removed and had just seized.
