Probably a fault with the nylon/rubber cog on the end of the motor shaft, some people have drilled it and put bolts through or glued it, you could also get another motor from the near side doors on a similar year Corolla or other model, most scrap yards have them.

Would anyone know the easiest way to take the window and mechanism out the back door? Seems a little bit of a fiddle!

Remove the carpet and then the metal panel, click both door locks to make the electrics think the door is shut, make sure you hold the glass then try to raise the glass with the switch, once the glass is half way up you should see the motor.

Always support the glass as it could fall out and break.

i got mine from a passenger door off a 1992 mr2 £10 , ask for a corolla 1 at a scrap yard though , mention surf or mr2 and they charge daft money .

you could swap it , if you take out the rear passenger side motor. or try emailing this guy he's breaking a surf right now. sparkzter@googlemail.com

or ask at http://www.mr2oc.co.uk or http://www.imoc.co.uk
