I have a Toyota Carina Mark2 Executive - A very reliabl;e car indeed! Recently though, I have noticed that the steering is getting very stiff especially when I start thr car in the morning. After driving around for a while the steering gets progressively to near normal.

I had a friend who is a mechanic examine it briefly and he noted that both the belt and the Pumps ARE FINE. What other causes may be responsible for this stiffness??

I'm not expert but I'd say that these are possible:

Tyre pressure too low

Motor going

Power steering fluid needs changing
