1996 Starlet & 1990 Corolla - Auto Box Compatibility?

Hi

I have two Toyotas,

A 1996 Starlet 1.3 Sportif manual, and

a 1990 Corolla 1.3 5 door liftback automatic..

I've been driving the starlet and the wife has had the corolla but it's finally going to have to go... needs too much for the MOT so am giving the wife the Starlet (which is only fair cos it was her mother's car in the first place! lol)

Now the problem is that she HATES driving a manual (actually hates is not quite a strong enough word) so I was wondering... is the automatic box from the Corolla the same as the one that would have been in an automatic Starlet? I've seen an automatic Starlet at work and the box looks the same from the inside (hardly a fair comparison I know!)

Would the job be simply too expensive to be worthwhile doing (I don't have the space or time to do the job mself if it CAN even be done)?

Also what sort of place would I go to find out a price (I know that no-one can tell me a specific place to go.... forum rules and all that which is fine and understandable...)?

Any help would be most appreciated..

I think you will be wasiting your time.

You might have to fabricate special mounts and adapters.

With out knowing the transmition codes of the indivisual boxs, its hard to say
