help!!!

lately my 2000 avensis d4d has been conking out on steep inclines, usually when stopped in a queue of slow moving vehicles or the dreaded bin lorry. This is extremley embarassing to say the least,as I then have to pull the bonnet and pump the plunger on top of the fuel filter like mad,to get some diesel back to the engine. Then I have to crank the engine for ages before it fires again.Obviously doesnt do the Battery any good either!

I changed the fuel filter yesterday, which admitedly hadnt been replaced for 90,000 miles and thought that was the end of my problems;but still conking on hills when idling. So im thinking fuel pump? injectors?big bucks.Would apprieciate any help or suggestions,

cheers,

barneybear

hi mate

your problem is with an air presence in fuel system. you could change a filter many times but the rubber O-ring can not serve ever. You'd be cacreful and dismantle fuel filter and change an O-ring that seals fuel leak. The second reason -- you might have a problem with hand booster plunger sealing. SOmetimes due to a seal wear down the air is sucted into fuel system thru gaps between seal ring and the plunger.

do not be in panic but check it carefully

cheers/igor
