Lc4 5 Speed Auto Or 4 Speed?

How can I tell if my car is a 5 speed auto other than listening for the gear changes?

Its an LC4 on 54 plate. Has the wheel on rear door. Toyota dealer assured me it was a 5 speed.

Starting to not believe a word this bloke said (solihull toyota....)

I have to say that the only cast iron way to tell is to drive it and feel for the number of changes

On most automatics, the gear positions below 'D' limit the box to the selected gear. This won't include top gear (that is 'D').

So on my 5-speed, the alternatives are 2, 3 and 4.

I would expect a 4-speed to have 1, 2 and 3 or 2 and 3.
