Ecu Mods Or Aftermarket Ecu?

R-Sport

Hi there, I`m having a problem at finding a company that makes ECU modifications for T-Sport.

Here`s the plan:

I`m planning to build a Yaris T-Sport for rally use in Finnish national rally serie that is called V1600.

Rules are very simple, these cars are actually stock, with minor modifications, like ECU can be changed, if it uses original wiring and sensors, springs and dampers can be changed to suit rallying, brake pads for safety and exhaust pipe for noise can be changed also, and of course, safety items such as rollcage, proper seats and belts come as natural..

So everything seems ok, but the ECU..?

I`d like to have a little better power and torgue curve, but dont know where to look at it. I dont expect miracles because engine must be original.

One option is to change it for aftermarket engine management (DTA in my case), but the use of original wiring and sensors might be a little problem.

Has anyone made this kind of conversion?

Somekind of plug must be made to mate the original wiring to aftermarket ECU, and that is not the biggest problem.

What is needed to know is does DTA or any other aftermarket ECU work with Toyotas original sensors at all??

Rules dont allow any sensors to be added to the engine.

Best option is a remapped original ECU, but I`m quite sure that cannot be done.

If you have any advice, I´d be very pleased.

do you know if running a secondary "piggy back" ECU is against the rules?

as you are going to be top end most of the time this would be ok because you could use the original ECUs map for low end and then the piggy back could kick in at high end, where you want it.

a full ECU change will be pricey and will probably come with a different loom

a few people have piggy back system of here but i forget what it is called

anyone?

get some pics up too! ie never seen a rally style T-sport

Greddy e-managed I think is what some use, which is a piggyback ECU

Others use dastek, this one would be fine, but I don't know if it will give you enough performance wise

I'm pretty sure C-one make an aftermarket ECU for the yaris

Pics are coming immediately when car arrives to the workshop.

I have found two suitable base cars from germany that are under closer inspection.

Reason to get a car from germany, is that we have terrible taxes on our cars. For example T-Sports starts at 3900Eur in germany, and in Finland cheapest T-Sport that is for sale is 8900Eur..

C-ones website was quite hard to read  But i found there a power ecu suitable for Yaris, need to send an e-mail to them..
