Hi everybody

I bought couple of weeks ago Avensis 2001 in nice sunny day.

During first rain I discovered that front wipers make knocking noise when they reverse from vertical position.

What is strange knocking sometimes disappear - for a couple of wipes.

Noise comes from wiper mechanism.

can it be fixed without changing whole one ??

Anyone has similar problem and fixed it ?

Many thanks

Hi,

I had a similar problem on my 2001 Avensis. It made a real clonk every time it changed direction from the vertical, worse on the drivers side.

Mine was fixed by fitting some decent Wiper Blades, Bosch ones - although they were a bit of a tight fit on the wiper arms. I also cleaned the windscreen really well, with usual glass cleaner and then Meths - good as new now.

Pull the blades clear of the screen and operate the wipers and listen to see if the clonk is still there. Chances are it's just the blades.

All the best.

Hi

Seems you are right.

When I lift the wipers they are running smooth and quiet

More coments when I replace wipers - I was told on the day I bought the car that they were quiet new so I guess also the cheapest one.

Many thanks.
