Hi have recently bought a 52 yaris and I sometimes have difficulty getting Ist or Reverse gear. The clutch has been checked and I'm sure the gearbox is Ok. Anyone else had this problem or no a fix. It's annoying as the car is great otherwise. Cheers Davina

I sometimes get that problem and I cant figure it out nor can any of my mates. only thing i can suggest is to make sure that for foot is all the way down on the clutch.

I once read on this forum about people putting it in to second then reverse an apparently it goes in better? Try that? Not sure if it will work tho lol

I've also read in another thread about putting some sort of washer or washers under a spring located somewhere on the g/box...can anyone elaborate?

hi davina, i have also just bought a 1.3 sr 52 plate yaris 60,000 miles full toyota history , test drove it (me & my wife)i then drove it home to brum from bristol, everything seemed fine , then a week later my wife tells me shes having trouble getting reverse 1&2, tried it myself and it was true , took it into a local garage , they said the clutch was dragging , and they then bled the hydrolic fluid to the clutch , and said there was some air in the pipe , its now a lot better , still a bit notchey , seems fine when car has warmed up,make sure the carpet is not stopping the peddle from going fully down ,looks like im not on my own with this prob , the gearbox fix looks very interesting trying to find out if it can be done on my model, cheers fred
