D-4 Vs. Valvematic

If i understood it correctly, there is a problem fitting D-4(direct injection) on the same engine as Valvematic(variable valve lift), because of limited space on the top. Please correct me if i'm wrong

The question then is, which is better? BMW seem to have dropped their Valvetronic system in favor of direct injection, Toyota seem to do the oposite.

Also, will it be posible in a near future to see both systems on the same engine?

Well, i guess anything will be possible in the future. Question just is, how near a future.

I was just wondering, if it was an economical issue or a technological one

Sure, but that doesn't explain why they halted the production of D4, unless the 2 don't work together

i'll have to check in work, i'm still waitin to hear more bout the engine works exactly but i'm sure it's still got direct injection as well tho
