Sometimes it is handy to be able to point someone to a specific post in a thread, rather then just sending them to the general thread, especially if the thread is very long.

This is very simple to do:

All you need to do is find the post and copy the URL that is in the Web Browsers address window, for example:

http://toyotaownersclub.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=58311&st=165

The first part shown below just links to the Thread from the start:

http://toyotaownersclub.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=58311

http://toyotaownersclub.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=58311

but by adding

&st=165

at the end - AND making the number after the "=" ONE LESS then the specific post in question, you can have the link going straight to the post you want:

so if we want to start the thread view at post #166, the code will say

http://toyotaownersclub.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=58311&st=165

http://toyotaownersclub.com/forums/index.p...8311&st=165

If you want to get fancier, the rte-link-button.png button will allow you to add some nice description to the link;

so keeping with above example, using the full address, including the "&st=xxx" part, you can point a fellow forumite to a very clear and specific thread.....

Or you can just click on the post number... eg..... Post #94......... this will give you the direct link to that particular post in the thread.

Umm, I think that is what I said at the beginning? :g:

a couple of people wanted to know how to then make that direct link into a clicky link.
