First Post Glow Plug Fuse

hi. my first post and was unsure where to put it, thought this forum would receive most attention.

i have a toyota hiace custom 2.8 diesel that won t start on these cold mornings. after a process of elimination found that the glow plug fuse was blown, put in a new one and it blew.

disconnected glow plug wire and put in a new fuse turned key and it did nt blow, reconnected it turned key and it blew. is it right to assume that the problem is either with the wire that joins the glow plugs or the glow plugs themselves? or can anyone suggest any other possibilities as its costing me a fortune in fuses.

when i was initially trying to find the fault i removed and checked the glow plugs. when putting the wire back that connects the plugs to each other i was unsure how to seat it properly with the copper washers (never took notice when removing). i have been wondering if seating incorrectly could cause the a short?

any help or advice would be much appreciated.
