hello, last year i bought a toyota mr2 roadster 1.8vvti. Now the thing is, is has run for about 50.000 miles. Now it doesn't run very well at all. It hardly passes the 3000 rpm, max speed is about 115km/hour.

Can anybody tell me whether this engine is still in for a rescue??

greetz,

Mark

Hi and welcome to the club

Pre-cat failure is not the cause of engine problems but an end result of prior faults. ;)

Have you got a CEL (Check Engine Light) showing?

If you do then the code is needed to determine a possible fault. (Information HERE )

Do you check your oil on a regular basis (At least once a week)?

If not and you have recently found the oil level to be extremely low then you may be too late and the apparent problems now are not a good sign.

If you have none of the above faults check out the article on "MAF cleaning" and other useful hints HERE

As Davy said, without more information it is difficult to offer advice, hopefully the above might steer you in the right direction

Hope it isn't too serious and please let us know what you find.

Les
