Rear Tail Light

Hi all,

just got myself an 03 T3 and so far i'm loving it! great car all round..

I have a slght problem with one rear tail light though, its a bit weird. When I close the boot, the tail light goes out. If i then touch the light cluster housing (only very gently) it come back on again.

The indicator, fog light and brake light work fine.

I know it must be a loose connection, but I've taken it all apart and put it all back together, including the bulb and its still doing it.

Any suggestions as to where I should be looking?

Thanks,

Chris

Sounds like poor/loose connection. I think the bottom contact of the bulb is gone. Try putting in a new bulb and see if that fix's the problem.

Sounds to me like a broken filament in the bulb, when you tap it the broken ends touch together again and on it comes.

I've had the same problem on my 02 2.0 Sedan. I thought I'd fixed the problem lots of times by scratching the contact surfaces and changing bulbs, but it always came back. I think there is some kind of corrosion in the socket, once it's there it easily comes back. I finally got it working by first grinding contact surfaces with fine grinding paper, and then carefully attaching copper grease to the ground spots. It's been working well for a couple of years now.
