Poor Dealership Repair Quality

I'm still waiting for some heavy rain to check if the latest attempt to repair the leak on my car has worked but while running my hand along the bottom of the door I felt something rough and rubbery and was shocked to see this.

It feels and looks a lot like underseal and I've a bad feeling that the dealers attempt to stop the smaller door membrane from leaking has been to paint around the seal with a large amount of underseal :g:

Surely this is not the Toyota approved method of repairing a door membrane ?

This is the second problem I've found with this repair the other being that they didn't refit all the screws holding the door panel on.

That just looks like the sealant used to restick your membrane back on. Just they made a bit of a messy job of it, but then it is sticky messy stuff.

It is an approved way of resealing the door membranes. Some Aygos have been found to not have the membranes stuck down proplery when built (causing a leak into the front footwells) The repair is to either reseal the original membranes or remove and fit new ones. It just looks like they have done a messy job of it and not mentioned it to the valeters to clean off.

If you dont fancy cleaning it off yourself, take it back to them and ask them to clean it all off :)

Mart.
