Mmt - Do Toyota Have A Long-term Commitment To This Type Of Transmissi

Hi again

I've posted previously regarding my (May 07) Auris 1.6 T Spirit MMT. My comments have ranged (chronologically) from sheer initial frustration to relative satisfaction. So much so, that I'm currently considering purchasing another - despite a noticeable price increase for the new 1.6 Valvematic! I am, however, becoming increasingly confused regarding Toyota's long-term commitment to this type of transmission - particularly as it's not available in the new Avensis. Does anyone know if MMT will be an option on the new Toyota Verso? If so, it will demonstrate Toyota's commitment to MMT; if not, it will set warning bells ringing as to their long-term confidence in this type of transmission!

Any comments/opinions would be appreciated - Kingo?

Phil

There won't be MM-T transmission on the new Toyota Verso, there will be Multidrive S -automatic transmission. So it seems like Toyota isn't going to continue releasing cars with the MM-T, of course I cannot know that for sure, but I think that when they will release facelifted Auris there will be also Multidrive S, instead of MM-T transmission!

Best regards, Alex

Hi Alex

Many thanks for your reply. Whilst I'm currently very happy with my MMT (and, as I said, was considering purchasing another) the fact Toyota seem as if they may phase it out will now make me think very carefully about purchasing another - I'll have to try and find out more about 'Multidrive S' & whether it's more like VW's DSG transmission.

Yes I suggest you to think very carefully, as it seems like MM-T is going out of from the market and I know there are many customers unsatisfied with that gearsystem. So if the facelifted model is coming after some months and will have a different look + improved technical devices, it migh be good to wait and see, as by buying it you will get more fresh model which will be easier to sell for a better price later, and many people will probably buy it rather than the one with MM-T as they've heard so many negative things about it.

Good luck to you, whatever you'll decide to do!

Best regards, Alex
