Auris 2 Litre Diesel Gearbox

Is their a record of gearbox breakdowns with the Auris? My Auris is just coming up to its 30,000 (28300) mile service and the gearbox is getting quite notchy and sometimes difficult to get into gear. I have to do a round trip of 800 miles and I can't get the car into the dealer until afterward the trip. I am just worried about risking it.

Thanks for any help

Adrian

Not heard anything here before

But that seems like abnormal wear to me if it is the gearbox. Therefore toyota should replace it under warranty. I would never accept a gearbox to wear out in 30k miles. Especially since as it sounds like you do a lot of miles they are probably m-way miles which you don't even change gear.

It might just need an oil change.

I think 2.0 and 2.2 gearboxes are basically same and I had problems to switch to 2nd gear in the beginning when engine was cold. Changed transmission oil in 90000 to Mobil SHC and things seem to got better, 2nd refuses sometimes but when you try every gear after cold start when idling, things are easier on the road. Maybe there is some part that doesn't get lubrication in the beginning.

I have the same engine(72000km) and my only problem was with annoying squealing breaks, but never, never any problem with gearbox! I think that some good lubrication will solve your problem..
