Hi scotstigress

I had the same quandry when I decided to paint the calipers on my Gen 7 GT

Here's the final result

Front Wheel

I was a bit wary at first, but I have to admit, it has grown on me

looking good.....it does just lift those wheels, you did a great job on those too, id get paint eveywhere...lol the callipers need a good scrub with a wire brush before painting on mine.....i just think it will make me car look a wee bit special if i have bright orange calipers....spotted a nice set of custom made seatcovers on eBay in black and orange leather but they are seriously pricy @ 125 quid.....and me on short time too..lol. need to get the back calliper off anyways its seized on the bottom may aswell paint them while im there...:D

My intention was to match the 'red' of the GT logo on the Centre Cap

So I bought a can of Halfords Very High Temperature Spray Paint - 'Metallic Red'

I applied the paint with a brush, (not sprayed), and that colour was the result - It definitely wasn't 'red'

But, surprise, surprise, the final colour actually matched the GT logo

It also turned out to be a matt finish, not gloss, which is also quite distinctive

Put it this way, when I have to re-paint them due to wear/tear/dirt, I'll be using the same colour

Post a pic of your Celica scotstigress and I'll give my opinion if the colour will suit your car

If you do decide to paint your calipers - Preparation is the key

Tips

Wire Brush all surfaces, then use a can of Brake Cleaner, then Wire Brush again, then 'mask off' as accurately and thoroughly as you can

Caliper - Masked

Good luck
