Hi from DenIan,

A few days ago, I was stuck with my T registed Yaris in a slow moving traffic jam on a hot day Suddenly, when stopped, the throttle stopped controlling the engine speed, and the gear lever could be moved into the slots without seeming to do anything to the car.

So I switched off the engine, & fiddled a bit the gear lever & the throttle, & so on a few times, but then everything started again. That suggest this gearbox is heat sensitive, but as no time did I hear the electic engine switch itself on.

A local Toyota dealer guessed that it might be a valve problem, which would take about £1,000 to fix, with presumably no quarantee that it would not happen again, at the most inconvient time,

Has anyone had a similar problem & knows the solution??
