Where Are The T180 Remaps?

Anyone know where the decent ECU remaps are for the T180. I have not been able to find any. There are the usual rubbish, which are just glorified fuel boosters, but that is it. Do they really exist and does anyone have one?

2 options available now

P-Tronic - apparently they carefully map for each engine but dont believe me on this + VERY expensive

Venom - testimonial by someone on the avensis forum

Or

Wait until Parts king gets the chips in for the t180. They sell normal d4d chips and they were working with a company to develop a chip for the t180. This was quite a while back. If i remember right, they thought they had completed it, installed it and had lots of fun but apparently the VSC lights come on and/or there are problems nearing 5k rpm.

Apparently the t180 is harder to chip correctly because of its setup. But the best thing is to wait for a good chip because over fueling and poor mapping can cause premature wear and you dont want to have to replace the injectors / pump or whatever.

When Parts king gets news of this chip he will post to this forum.

We had 2 demos running power upgrades . Both of them are apparently 200bhp . Not been on a rolling road but it is the same kit as the 2.0 d4d avensis.

Hi Andrew,

Is this the kit parts king sells?

Does it have any problems? Is the power increase noticeable and an increase in MPG?

Cheers

We have never had any issues with it. I had a T180 with one fitted for a few days its been on both the rav T180 and the Auris T180 as we have 2 and there has been no problems at all. Have also fitted a few for customers and they seem happy with them. As for MPG i did a few 100mile plus journeys (with cruise control) at between 70-80 and the mpg counter was showing 42.2mpg - Suppose you have to bear in mind the car it was on had only done 8000miles at the time so was still fairly tight. They do make a hell of a difference from 3-6 but 1st and 2nd still go by in a flash.

This isnt the kit parts king sells if his kit is the one illustrated on the website. But may be more expensive @ £400.00+vat.

Apparently they make the car good for about 145mph top end too ? - Not that you will ever get to that on our roads.

As for long term problems its difficult to say theres 1 older (56reg) car we had that has one and has now done 45,000 miles and no customer complaints as of yet.

If you wanted to test drive one i can see if we could get a loan system from the manufacturer that we may or may not be able to rent on a month road test. The down side to this is there would have to be full payment for the chip and fitting/removal. But it may give the T180 owners a chance to try before you buy so to speak. Allthough this wouldnt be an overnight thing for me to get approved it may be an option if there is some interest.

Im not sure if i need an upgraded/trader status to disucss things like this on this site but we would be happy to help if anyone gets stuck with parts. At least down south anyway as lindop is a way away for the southern regions. I wont put any more untill i obtain the correct ways to go about it though.

Andrew

Thanks Andrew - would be interested to see these chips and understand if they have been correctly calibrated for the t180's / 2.2dcats

I'd rather not go for something that just inputs more fuel without being fully tested and mapped to the injection systems.

Well our kit (T180) has now been fitted on several customers cars without any problems whatsoever, our rolling road is being installed next week and I will post up some dyno figures as soon as I have a T180/SR180 to try out!

Our kit works by increasing fuel AND boost pressure, they are fully digital, processor controlled units, NOT some cheap auction site resister kit that will damage your engine

A few members have posted up reviews, we have even supplied them as far afield as Australia

PM me for details and prices

Do these units remove the pinking you get on a T180 and how does this effect the MPG etc, also what is the best price you can do?

They smooth up the feel to the engine and fuel consumption is better depending on how you drive it, thrash it and you wont get any better, drive with lighter throttle using the improved torque and you are onto a winner

Still really did not answer all my questions some you did a bit but 2 off them you missed IMO :( I do know about fuel consumption and thrashing the car but from the sound of your reply I will be hard pushed to get any better mpg than now and at the moment to get 42mpg+ and I have never seen over 46mpg I have to drive more or less free wheeling down all the hills and barely touching the throttle if I drive normal I get around 36mpg - 40 mpg depending on the weather

Your fuel consumption will improve if you drive the car sensibly, I cannot put a figure on it, as it is purely down to your driving style, if you drive the car like you say you do then you will find a better MPG

And still you have only answered 2 of 3 questions and not very good at that :( ,

1. Do these units remove the pinking you get on a T180 You never gave me a firm yes or no answer

2. How does this effect the MPG etc, You have now gave me an answer what you back up with any evidence or fact and figures what can be achieved on a car before and after

3. What is the best price you can do? You never even answer this question

I think I will give it a miss as this is hard work to get answers to simple questions and the 3rd question I would have thought have been the easiest to answer.

OK, sorry if you think I was being evasive, that wasnt the idea

1: The T180 doesnt pink-It has a chareterisicly similar noise but that doesnt go away with a tuning box, however it is smoother (and quieter according to some customers)

2: You cannot give an exact answer to the MPG issue as every customer drives their car differently. We have a couple of testimonials on our website HERE MOST customers get anywhere between 3-6 MPG EXTRA from fitting a tuning kit

3: I used the phrase PM me for details and prices The reason I do this is that these threads remain visisble for years, so I tend not to give the price in an open forum, the current price is available by clicking the above link or I will provide it in a PM to you

I am not giving John an hard time and I have had parts myself of John no problems at all, but the fact is there is very mixed reviews on these box's (even on Johns after you pm owners of Auris and Rav4 T180 who have this fitted), and at the price I think this box will be I am not shelling out that amount unless I know 100% it will work reliable no problems and I get an mpg increase. The fact of the matter is I asked 3 questions in a simple short sentence and it took approx 3 replies to get a straight answer. I am sorry and no disrespect to John but from what other Auris and Rav4 T180 users have said in pm's is this box is not all its cracked up to be and it does make me wonder as a lot of these so called diesel tuning companies do struggle to map a T180 hence they dont do a chip. Sorry but count me out as I need more evidence than I have gathered to be willing to buy this.

See my review of the box here.

I haven't had a single problem with the box. Not one. The car works and acts exactly like stock when it comes to reliability but when you press the pedal the beast is released.

I've had the box fitted for around 2000 - 2500 km's now and the l/100km figure is a bit better even I've been trashing the car around. I have not spared it or driven sensibly. I've just been enjoying the extra power.

Firstly, I sell a lot of D4D tuning boxes, for both normal D4D and T180 style engines. I think if somebody was not satisfied with one of our kits then we would be first to know, I doubt they would hold their tongues and then say in a PM that they dont work. What I suspect is that these people have boubht a cheap auction website kit that dont work or they are recalling the experience of what other people have said, I have NEVER received a bad report from one of my customers on a T180 kit

Secondly, you say companies are struggling to map a T180, well the ONLY option is a chip tuning kit, you cannot remap the Denso system, so if companies are saying it can be done, then take it from me, they are wrong, a lot of very specialist companies have tried and failed, the only option is a tuning box. Our T180 kit works on fuel AND boost pressure, it works, with no warning lights/failsafe/hesitation/smoke etc, you do get what you pay for so steer away from cheap boxes that just fool the engine into thinking its running colder than it is, our kits are fully digital micro processor controlled, we are so confident that they work properly that we have now extended our 14 day money back guarentee to THIRTY DAYS so if you dont like it, send it back and we wll give you a full refund

Sorry mate but I am not 100% convinced from what I have read about your box and yes I am on about your box, if you was local to me and depending on price I might have been tempted on the money back guarantee as I have nothing to loose to test this but I would not be doing this through the post, please also see the comments above

Thanks and thats great but you have not done much mileage yet and your box is the easier to chip / tune 2.0 engine not the T180 so this is off no help to me.

If you read my review you would've noticed that I DID try another cheapo digital box before. And even though they claimed that the box works for this car, it didn't. I had the xmas special with limp mode on my dashboard and also the car did have some starting issues when warm. With this box, zero problems. Nada, zip, njet problema.

Also you referred that I haven't done many miles with the box attached. Ok I haven't. But I have enough to be convinced that this works. The other box worked like under 100km's and the problems started.

Like I wrote, this chip increases fueling and air boost. So basically it works like a proper remap by keeping the air/fuel ratio correct. Usually the CR boxes only increase fueling what in longer run destroys your CAT and your DPF. Your DPF might be gone in less than 1000km if the overfueling is excessive. It will soot the DPF, then it will get clogged and it won't be undone in DPF burn anymore. Only option is to change it.

Sorry I'm saying this but it makes me wonder are you really trying to find a tuning chip or are you just picking a fight?

Reason I'm wondering is that 1 person tells you that his experience was bad and 99 tell you that they've had 0 problems. You still stick to that one problem case?

It's your call but in my opinion you CANNOT get a better box cheaper anywhere. Steinbauer or Dragon would probably be the best choice but the price is triple compared to this one. You cannot find a remap because there isn't one and there ain't gonna be one, ever. Denso ECU is not crackable!

Oh and you're been offered a 30 day money back deal so what do you have to lose? I'm in Finland and even I was convinced that I'll get my money back if I'm not satisfied. And if John has sold these boxes to as far as Australia then he must have a good product, don't you think?

Seems like there is a lot of debate surrounding this setup...

At the end of the day, Partsking seems to offer a product, with a no fuss money back guarantee...I do agree, a RR test before and after, would help the case (but it has been mentioned he will be getting a RR setup asap) but other than that i dont see what else he could offer.

If you dont like it, dont buy it i say :)
