After my paseo had been left in ths garage for over six months as the engine F***ed up, I changed the engine but the immobiliser seems to be staying active. The fuel pump isn't running and there is no spark. Is there a cut off switch on the car, have Imissed something, or is there an ECU fault

I didn't even know there was such a thing as a Toyota Paseo until I read this post.

Regardless to this your story sounds more than a little bit familiar. I tried searching to try find out what type of alarm you had but after reading about 20 posts I learned bugger all relevent. Or relevent to anything else really. I typed Paseo into google images and if you have the same alarm as me it might be possible its been fitted the same. If it is the same as mine you might want to have the number of the samaritans handy.

Does your alarm fob have 2 buttons. 1 black, 1 red. Black locks/unlocks, red is panic button, there is a slide on one side which enables/disables the interior sensors (2 bleeps from the alarm when it arms then int sensors off, 3 bleeps on.), and on the other side is a 3 pin little socket. A little red LED lights up when you press the buttons.
