My coolant level is quiet low. It hasnt been changed since i bought the car 20 months ago. Should i just top up or does it need draining and refilling??

hello mate the level will move up and down a bit with use because that is an expansion chamber,as long as the level is between the high and low it should be fine.If the engine has got a leak the most common place will be the water pump which is driven off of the fan belt.If you check the under side of the water pump behind the pulley with a mirror,if it's leaking you will see a trace of coolant coming from there

I would recommend changing the coolant at least once a year. It's an easy job to do, doesn't take all that long and is pretty inexpensive.

No Need. Use the toyota long life coolant, good for 10 yrs, or 100,000Km. Buy the pink stuff. u need 6.7L of it

Hi I just had my corolla radiator replaced by toyota garage, but I've been noticing that the coolant level in the expansion tank is lower by about 2cm then the High level (when its cold). When the engine is running, the coolant level goes up to the High Level.

I would like to ask if the coolant level in the expansion tank has to be nearly to the High Level when the engine is still cold, or when the engine has been ruuning for quite some time?

Thanks

So long as its between the min and max level in the expansion tank it should be just fine.

I'd even leave an inch from high so it has somewhere to expand to when the engine gets hot or it may end up fizzing out of your radiator expansion cap.
