Fuel Filter ?

iv just done a service o my car and was thinking bout changing the fuel filter aswell but when i went to a local place beside me thats good for there parts said that its a life time fuel filter and its in the fuel tank ?? is this right ? TBH iv not even had a look to see ware it was lol

well iam after looking up the service book and it says 'Additional Replacments', its 'fuel filter- Diesel engines/ every 6 years / 40-000 miles' nout about changing pertols so may be true lad,
