14 Hours Of Hard Work Later....

I thought I'd give our little Yaris a spring treat.

After fourteen hours of effort, the results are quite pleasing, so I thought I'd share and see if anyone else has been doing the same this weekend...

I know you're not really interested, but its theraputic for me to list what I've spent the last two days doing....

1) Wash the car with Werkstat shampoo.

2) Dry it with a drying towel.

3) clay it all over with a Meguirs Quick-Clay kit (this removes tar and other "fall out" that's stuck to the paint over the past six months since its last polish.

4) Using a Maguirs G220 random orbital polisher, go over the whole car with Menzera Final Finish polish to remove any residual surface muck and to give the clear-coat a top gloss finish.

5) Apply a coat of Werkstat Prime sealant to provide a base-coat of protection.

(I used to use Collinite wax, but for a clearcoat metallic, the acrylic sealant is optically clearer and lets you see thr metallic reflections in the paint better (see the shot of the roof below).

6) Apply a coat of Poorboys Black Hole glaze.

This fills in any fine surface swirls and enhances the "wet look" of the finish.

7) Apply four coats of Werkstat Jett acrylic sealant top coat.

This seals in the glaze and provides the long term shine and protection.

You can see how this gives the colour a good depth and reflects the metallic well in the picture of the roof below...

And the wet look reflection in the bonnet is pretty pleasing too...

We've not had 14 hours of dry to do anything near as much hard work as you've done. Looks great, well done. :yahoo:

Just look at the sunshine in the pictures. Its been like that all weekend on the Fylde coast....

Was brilliant watching the rain pouring down on Brands Hatch for the Touring cars whilst we were enjoying the sun....
