Fuel Gauge Stuck On Half What Can Cause This

My 1999 corolla fuel gauge is stuck at half but when I remove the key the gauge drops to empty. I have filled up today full tank and it still shows hald a tank.

Could someone let me know where the sender unit is located as I have heared that you can unplug some connector and re-connect it and it may sort it out. Or do you guys think there is another problem.

If There is a float sensor inside then its obviously stuck. What could cause it? Debris: have you jacked up your car recently? I have seen someone jack the car up at the fuel tank sensor location & he has his car showing similar symptoms due to tank pressed in. Doubt if its anything electrical.
