2Zz Lift Bolts

Evening boys and girls,

Used to be on the forum in 2006 as tsport kid but could I remember the password?

Anyway bought my second tsport last month after owning a leon tdi cupra with 210hp and 400ftlb which I had spent 10k on!

Replaced the lift bolts at the weekend, my car is 05 fl with 39.5k on it.

Must say after so much speculation about lift bolts that yeah mine had wear on them but not at the point where thay looked like they may fail. But to drag this topic up again, I believe they are worth replacing every 20k as the lift is just that little bit smoother and stronger.Easy job too, did mine within half an hour of stopping the car, good idea to let it cool down though!

Anybody got any advice on patience!

Glynn

Getting the rocker cover off is the hardest part and thats simple really.

Dont overtighten the rocker cover bolts or the lift bolts when you put it all back together.

use a torque wrench to tighten the lift bolts - you only tighten to 7.5nm which would be easy to strech the threads without one. the revised bolts do still wear ever so slightly but nothing to worry sbout - 40 - 50k change just to be sure. check the cam for wear while your their too.
