I recently bought a 2005 Corolla 1.4 D4D. It has 45K miles on the clock and is running beautifully.I drive about 45K miles a year(non city driving). My question is "what type of mechanical problems will I encounter once the miles pile up?"

45k a year in Ireland ? *****

Everything mechanical will wear out or break eventually so for the longest working life your best course of action is to make sure the car is always serviced on the button.

i personally have a lot of experience with high mileage corollas and i have to second what dave said, as long as you keep to the servicing schedule and have it serviced on time and regularly and the second thing keep the oil always at the max (since turbo shares engine oil) the car will literally go forever...not forgetting timing belts on the proper interval also. rest of stuff will be the usual wear and tear, tyres, brakes, an odd bulb here or there and thats pretty much it. the engines are amazing, the gearboxes not far behind so just look after it mate and it'll look after you!

edit: your motorwar mileage will have light wear on the clutch so that should be ok, with the 2.0d4d they put in the avensis (2002 shape) the fly wheel is changed but thats very late on in life you're nowhere near that and it may not apply to the corolla anyway
