Scorpion/toyota Alarm Fault

Hi all,

I have a 1994 (M) reg Rav 4, 2 ltr petrol..2 door.

The other day, my Battery ran flat, so took it off, charged it & put back....

The car wouldn't start...turned over fine, but wouldn't fire...

After a few mins i got it to run, for all of 1-2 seconds at very low tick over. (normal when cold 1100, after warm up about 800, but this was about 400rpm.)

I spoke to a mechanic mate & he said sounds like a fuel problem. Where it has been cold I assumed it was that.

Left it an hour or 2 to "thaw" but no joy. Done some more digging on the net, & found that chances are an alarm is fitted. (this was evident from the sensors, but as i wasn't given a remote when i bought it, i assumed that it had been removed & the sensors were "for show").

So pulled the glove box down, found the control box 918t stamped on it. From experience i knew this to be scorpion. So again dug some more, found out cut purple & red/yellow & reconnect them. Done this but still no joy.

Spoke to an alarm fitter mate (who is on holiday & not done a 918t fro a few years) & he said he will see what he can do next Friday (7th Jan 2011). I need the car now though. Getting to the station for work is a pig with a car...without it is awful!

Can anyone tell me why it hasn't worked?

Are there another set? I did read that the immobiliser unit is in the passenger footwell, but couldnt see it when I removed the cover.

Would really appreciate some help guys. Sorry for droning on, but wanted to make sure all things covered....

Many thanks!

Its tied onto the steel frame below the centre of the dash. From it there are 2 wires which have been spliced in the harness next to the drivers footwell right side. Trace the wires back to the alarm unit and then reconnect them at the drivers footwell, cutting out the alarm. One of them is usually the live to the ignition system. these things were fitted when the cars arrived in the UK and the methods used for each car seems to differ slightly.
