Wing Mirror Manufacturer Fault - Fight With Warranty

Nearside wing mirror on our 2008 verso fell off in April 2010 - in front of my eyes - no impact, totally in tact and garage covered under warranty. Last week the drivers side wing mirror came off in wife's hand. Garage now say its the swivel joint and are dithering on warranty cover. Mirror in perfect condition - no impact at all. If not covered by warranty they want £350 all in to replace. Desperate for thoughts on how to progress. This is a manufacturers fault.
