1997 Picnic Fitting A New Stereo

Hello all, Can anybody tell me where I can get an adapter to make a new Alba stereo fit into the radio slot of a 1997 Picnic? We had a 96 Corrola and it was a perfect fit, I thought it would just slot into the picnic but nothing lines up. Failing this is there a list of stereos anywhere that will fit this double slot? I don't want to spend a fortune because the Alba stereo was only around £40 I already have the correct wiring loom so just need the actual unit to fit! Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you
