Hiace Traction Issues

Ok, So as per my other thread, my pride and joy will be back on the road soon!

I have one minor issue though. I use the van for camping and expeditions. However, due to it being rear wheel drive, when I don't have much kit in the back, it has a habit of getting stuck. As soon as I leave tarmac for example having to park up on a grassy area at a campsite I cannot get any grip when I try to pull away and end up having to push/be towed off the site.

Does anybody else have this problem? and has anyone found a way to overcome it? Other than staying religiously on tarmac/hard standings?

Also I am going to Scotland for a week or so this winter for some mountaineering. Has anybody had any experiences with snow chains on a hiace? As a couple of years ago I had major prolems in the snow, and that was in the south of England.... I'm guessing Scotland, although probably better prepaired than us, will most likely be worse conditions than we had...

The issue is that whenever I go to a campsite, or on some occastions pull over onto a grass verge to pass other vehicles I either get stuck or have severe wheel spin when trying to get going again.

I just wondered if there is anything I can do to combat this or if anyone else had found a way of overcoming it?

A really good M & S tyre I think would be your only option, the Hiace is so light on the back end it is renowned for handling poorly in the wet / mud / snow, just like any RWD BMW :D:

Yes, the weight of the Hiace is very light especially you passed in the grass. So it is much better to replace or maybe trade your tires,Anyway what type of tires do you have on your Hiace?
