Fuel Guage Wont Go Lower Than First Bar.

Hi, I have a Aygo 08. The petrol gauge wont go below the first bar. Every time I fill up, its fine and goes up as usual, then I use it, but stops at first bar.

Do you think this is the "fuel sensor"?

Does anyone have the 'repair manual' for this car?

Thanks.

When the second ar disappears, the lowest bar should start to flash. When you drive on it starts to flash quicker.

Do you mean you have one solid bar left and that's it?

Welcome to TOC

Do you mean it loses the first bar at the top and then won't go lower, or when there is only one bar left (one at the bottom) it won't go any lower?

If you mean the latter, then it's probably a good idea not to try! you'll run out of go-go juice!!

hi. Sorry I explained it backwards! It goes down from 5 to 4, but not lower than that.

You'll probably mean from 6 to 5, but it's clear.

The float is probably stuck; you need to visit your dealer...

I've not done it myself but the Haynes manual shows an access-hatch beneath the rear seat which grants access to the combined fuel-pump, gauge, regulator, and filter. The hatch is in the middle of the car and is affixed by mastic (which will have to be cut)

Disconnect the negative Battery terminal

Remove the wiring-plug (use a small screwdriver to release the clip)

Release the fuel supply and return pipes (squeeze the securing clips to release)

Note the position of the aligning-marks (arrow) on the sender lock-ring and the tank top

Unscrew the the units locking-ring and lift out the sender unit, taking care not to bend the float-arm which can catch on the fuel tank
