Heater Not Getting Warm

Can anyone help with a small problem ?

The heater in my 1997 2.0 litre GLi isn't getting warm, and in this cold snap I've taken to driving in a coat, hat and gloves just to stay warm.

The engine temp guage shows the engine is running at normal temperature, the internal blower works fine, which is good for clearing steamed up windows.

I took it for a 40 mile drive yesterday and it was still almost as cold in the car as outside when I got home !!!!!

Any Ideas ??

Thanks

I would suspect that the hot water is not reaching the small radiator that is used to warm the inside of the car.

A quick check can be made by locating the smallish rubber hoses that supply the hot water to that rad.

Both should get hot when the engine is warm..

If not then water is not being fed through.

This has been knwn to be caused by an air lock in the system,or it may be a blocked heator rad.

This can sometimes be resolved by running water though it in he opposite direction to normal with a hose pipe.

Then again there is always the possibility that the linkage from the heator control is not working as it should so that will need checking.

HI Crofter is right You also mention that your widows mist up Does the back window have a lot more condensation then the other glass in the car ? ONly my car mists up at the back and yet checking the water in the main radiator thinking that the heater matrix is resposible which is what we are disscusing here.

The level is fine! meaning that the heater matrix cant be resposible for the condensation on the back window because that is what can happen when they leak slightly Maybe its a rubber sealing problem on the widow Any one experienced the same please, and cured it >>>/?
