hi , i am new here and i am hoping to get so info on my Landcruiser clutch slipping

its been slipping for some time , started now and again, some times had no slip for months and then it started again, now very bad. i have done over 230,000 k , not had any trouble with the engine what so ever, i have owned it for over 9 years , its a 2000 year, only had 3,500 k on the clock when i bought it for 18,000 euro for cash.

i have been told the clutch has gone, i tried changing the clutch oil and bled system. how do i know its the clutch and not slave cylinder etc. can the clutch be changed by a novice?

i have changed clutch's before but long time ago in very old fords. where is the best places to get parts ? what is the likely cost ?

i live in Fuerteventura , canary islands. would love to fix and sell car to buy another LC

also what would the approx price to sell a 12 year old LC , 3 door GX fair condition .

thanks . great site

hello matey

the following might be cause of slipping:

- cylinder wear down;

- cylinder piston/plunger seal wear down;

- friction discs wear down;

- dirty liquid in the system;

- engine aft seal ring wear down;

- pedal free play adjustment is required.

Check and come back

regards / Igor
