2008 Avensis D4D Tr - Changing From 215/50 V R17 To 225/45 V R17?

Hi All,

Been pricing around for tyres for my 2008 Avensis D4D TR... i currently have 215/50V17 (Bridgestone Turanza ER300).... this size appears not to be a common size here in Ireland... special order each time over the past few years.

My local tyre depo showed me a 225/45 R17 side by side with a 215/50 R17... as expected the 245/45 was a fraction smaller in height...... wondering if these are suitable for my car.

The 225/45 R17 works out at 50 euro cheaper each.... I read some where else there could be issues with the speedo reading etc... this wouldnt be a major concern for me... more interested in handling, suitability etc.

Anyone else out there tried this size before???

The 225/45/17 should be suitable as the rolling radius will be the same, 245's may catch the bodywork on full lock and will also make your speedo read slow.

my avensis came with 215 45 17 but have on 225 45 17 as more common.
