Battery Change And Alarm

Hi, I have to change the Battery on my 2006 RAV4 NRG (2000-2006 model). When I disconnect the negative terminal I hear the pip pip pip which I think is the fore runner of the alarm going off. If I reconnect the negative all is well and car starts. Does anyone know if leaving the Battery disconnected for a while (time to change the battery) will the alram sound and if so is there any way to prevent this. I am assuming Toyota gave some though to future Battery changes and has a procedure to do it, I just don't know what it is.

Regards P

Welcome to the forum (aka madhouse) as BK says ignore the beeps they stop eventually. The petrol model really needs a bigger Battery (we've all been there - buy the diesel one - several threads about this) The car will maybe cut out at junctions for the 1st day.

I think it's do with the ecu learning stuff (technical term) Mine certainly did. It didn't seem to like idling and I think this has been mentioned before.
