"new" Car Tax For Yaris Hybrid ?

All being well, I'll be buying a new Yaris Hybrid in the next week or so. The salesman at the dealership told me that there is a £55 tax for buying the car new. I assumed he was referring to the 'First year vehicle excise duty'..... but I've since discovered that this doesn't apply to VED Band A cars.

Does anyone have any idea what else the £55 might be for?

Hi, the £55 is the first registration fee, which is payable the first time any new car is registered with the DVLA. See link below:

This has been in place since 1988, and was increased in 2008 to £55. It is a one-off fee.
