Exhaust Repaired, Now Getting Warning Light (03 Yaris 998Cc)

Good morning everyone!

Took the Yaris ('03, 998cc) to the local garage for its MOT on Friday. Exhaust (factory-fitted) needed

cutting, and rear and central sections inserting. Original CAT converter was retained.

I picked up the car Saturday p.m. and on the way home noticed that the orange 'engine block' warning light (aka 'malfunction indicator lamp') remained lit.

Went out for a short run in the car yesterday to warm up the engine thoroughly but and again the warning light remains visible.

Can anyone suggest a possible cause for this effect, please?

Many thanks for your help.

If you've not had that light on before then it seems too coincidental NOT to be something to do with the exhaust. A while ago my Dad had similar with his Vectra which turned out to be a broken wire at one of the exhaust sensors, probably caused by the excessive movement during the removal/renewal process.

He took the car back to the fitters and although I'm a bit sketchy about the details, IIRC the outcome was that they split the cost of the new sensor and they fitted it for free.
