Avensis Manual 2003-2007-Full Of Viruses

Hi

Just thought I would share this bad experience from downloading this manual. This has attached lots of malware, trojans, adware, pornsites, betting sites ..........I have just spent about 10 hours cleaning the almost unusable computer up and with with all the junk running in the background it kept overheating and wanting to turn off also. Almost clean now after using Malwarebytes and Superspyware. and programme manager although most were hidden in documents and temp files. Still a nasty little remnant on my Mozilla Firefox Start up page. A bit of malware %snf%.com which I have managed to disable to the extent that it will not connect up to the server but I am still unable to shift it from the start up page. Firefox is usable if I just open up another page and close the faulty one but still very annoying.

On reflection I suppose any crook/scammer can take a legitimate document off the internet and re-issue the PDF with all sorts of malware attached. Unfortunately I have not got a record of the address I got it from but perhaps this warning may stop someone getting scammed.

I am wary of some sites now. I have clean other peoples computers from similar problems. Normally I would say scrub the system and reset back to factory which wipes the PC/laptop clean, with a total reformat, but there is no back-up of the document/photos and other data.

Unless somebody can verify a site is safe, then I would rather wait until a safe source is found.

The real issue is that there has never been any info regarding the Mk2 Avensis. Yes the petrol engines are covered by the Haynes of the Mk1, and the early diesel by the Corolla Haynes manual, but everything else is through expensive technical manuals.

File sharing is another source, but some cannot be trusted and copyright is another issue.

Could have a look at http://www.toyota-tech.eu/

Some of the info is free and some chargable, but one could download and save specific sections one needs fairly cheaply, and it is an official Toyota site.
