Failed Mot...

Failed MOT for first time this year, due to both brake pipes needing attention.

I find it hard to believe considering I got a full service 3 months ago without a single mention of any issues to them, anyway - what is the average cost for this kind of work and how easy is it to do> My garage just said "not a fortune" but couldn't confirm a quote until he looked underneath as access differs to them from car-to-car.

Cheers

I'd estimate about £200 to £300 inc vat if you're getting it done at a regular garage. I've never done the Yaris but there cn be a fair mount of work involved eg dropping the subframe and / or the fuel tank. They won't replace the whole pipes front to rear they'll cut ut the bad bits and piece in new ones shaped to contour and flared as necessary then they'll have to rebuild it and fill and bleed the braking system, so there's a fair amount of labour and material involved.

It's a big advantage of doing your own servicing if you're able to.It's always a good idea to clean the pipes and protect them with wax or lithium grease because they get exposed to salt spray etc.
