I noticed my oil level was a bit low when checking the motor over today. Had a quick inspection underneath and discovered the attached image. The car was only recently serviced.  I checked and the housing is tight. Does this indicate a crack in the housing or possibly damaged the seals by over tightening the housing? Cheers. 

I should also add that I did clean this and it returned after a bit of a drive..
